Crooks??????

What’s wrong with the way we look?

We walk in a bank and they think we’re crooks

Does the world just not understand?

That we are not oppressed in this land

That we cover our hair and our body

Just to show our modesty

Do they not see?

That this is a sign of purity

That truly we are the ones free

Do they not know?

That we are protecting our soul

That it’s our haya’ we show

Do they not feel?

The glory of our veil

How it becomes our shield

Is it just that they see us as depressed?

And think of us as suppressed

Truly we are not impressed

For this must be part of our test

The hijab is Imaan

As said in the Qur’an

The only book not written by man

The hijab is an act of obedience

Surat Al Ahzab ayah 36

People look and they stare

Thinking that we care

About what they say

About us everyday

That we are not free

We have no liberty

Oh Ya Ikhwati

We must prove them wrong

Show them that we’re the ones that are strong

Oh my sisters in Islam

Let us strengthen our Iman

Let us pray to Allah

And be the best of man

Oh Ummati

Let us unite and become one

Surely then the light has come

Ya Allah guide us all to Sirat alMustaqeem

Grant us Jannah and keep us Muslimeen
